Mailman Discussion Lists:
Reply to List or Reply to Sender?
Q.
The subscribers to my discussion list want to know if there is a way to hit reply to respond to just the sender and not the entire list.
A.
When your subscribers receive a message from your discussion list they may simply hit the Reply button of their e-mail client if they wish to respond.
The question is, who do they intend to respond to -- everyone who is subscribed to the list, or just the person who posted the current message?
The behavior of the reply function for each list is under the control of the list owner and may be changed at any time.
Use your web browser to go to
http://lists.sxu.edu/lists and
click on the link for the List Admin Overview Page:

On the List Admin Overview page scroll down and click on the link for your
discussion list. In this example, the name of the list is "doggies."

Type in your list administrator password and click the "Let Me In" button:

Click on "General Options" and scroll down. Find the section for the
question "Where are replies to list messages directed?" When you click
the "Poster" radio button replies go to the person who sent the message.
When you click the "This list" radio button replies go to the entire
list.

When you are finished scroll down to click the "Submit Your Changes" button:

When finished, click on "Logout."
